How We Choose Accommodation For Our Travelers

When it comes to choosing accommodation for our travelers, it is important to make sure it ticks all the right boxes. With an expert team who plans perfect vacations, a lot goes into finding the perfect stay that suits our travelers.

Is The Accommodation Eco-Friendly?

The first box we look at is how eco-friendly the accommodation is.

Unfortunately, it is quite common in the travel industry for businesses to claim they are sustainable or eco-friendly when they aren’t. This is called greenwashing, and it happens when a company or organization spends more time and money on marketing itself as environmentally friendly than actually minimizing its environmental impact.

It is an advertising gimmick intended to mislead those that choose environmentally conscious brands, but it does not mean that the company or organization is eco-friendly.

Some of the things we look for in a legitimate, sustainable accommodation are:

Positive 4.5 and greater reviews from other travelers detailing green practices they experienced
Legitimate, sustainable practices directly from the accommodation source- do they have any special eco-friendly programs they are a part of? Do they have low water fixtures and reusable water fountain stations? Where is their energy coming from (solar or renewable sources, is the building LEED-certified)? Where do they source their food if they have bars and restaurants? Are they composting? What materials did they use to build the accommodation?
Do they employ locals from the local community? Are they locally owned?

These are all important facets of accommodation we look into before sending our travelers on vacation so that we are taking care of the environment, the local economy and being responsible travelers throughout our trips.

Our in-depth 100+ question traveler survey (don’t worry, it isn’t as crazy as it sounds) we send to you after booking tells us exactly what we need to know to make sure your accommodation is in the perfect location to suit your needs, and we’ll always do our best to ensure that it has all the features you need to be comfortable.

If you want to be close to the beach, we’ll do that.

How Does The Accommodation Manage COVID?

The emergence of COVID-19 in 2020 was a shock to the world. The travel industry struggled throughout it, with the world virtually shutting down to travel for the first year of the pandemic.

But, it also endured. It adapted. And now, travel has resumed in a big way, and we are able to travel responsibly again while taking the many precautions we need to be safe while on vacation.

When it comes to accommodation, it’s important that our partners do everything to keep you and their employees safe and mitigate risk. While we can’t guarantee a COVID-free vacation, we can do everything plausible to mitigate the risk to you and your destination. At Authenteco Travel, we prioritize your safety and the local community's safety to the best of our ability.

We do our best to choose private, unique accommodation so that our travelers feel safe in their own space. Additionally, wherever possible, we aim to choose locations with contactless check-ins.

This means we won’t choose big resorts or hotels but instead choose boutique, luxurious, and private accommodations.

Cleaning is also important because we know it is important to our travelers. We choose accommodations based on their level of cleaning preparation, care, and certifications, such as the SafeTravels stamp.

Places that emphasize sanitizing on top of their normal cleaning regiment are at the top of our list. Examples of these extra cleaning procedures are:

Ventilating the spaces before and during cleaning, when possible
Using disinfectants approved by local regulatory agencies for use against COVID-19

Spraying high-touch surfaces in each room with an approved disinfectant spray
Let the disinfectant stand for the length of time specified on the product label
