We must learn to visit beautiful places and have incredible experiences while making sure we leave only footprints. We must conserve and protect our planet so that your children and their children will have a world to explore.
Practicing what we preach: Remote Business
Authenteco Travel is a 100% remote business that currently employs people across three continents. We always put our employees first, ensuring they have the resources to work remotely and to the best of their ability. Remote work means there is no need for a large office (aka large carbon footprint) and enables our employees to work from anywhere in the world. We want our employees to have the freedom to get outside and enjoy their lunch breaks on the ski hills of the Swiss Alps or spend their evenings in a glamping tent so they can get up early and do a sunrise hike in the heart of New Zealand. Remote work also means that our employees don’t need to spend hours commuting to and from work, which frees up their time and lessens their carbon footprint.

COMMUNITY IMPACT
We are dedicated to choosing experiences and lodging that are better for the planet without sacrificing luxury and comfort. Our trip planning process encompasses over 1,000 well-thought-out steps, all of which have the communities, ecosystems, and environments you visit at the forefront of our minds.
• Your accommodations are locally owned and managed by local community members in your destination. We stay away from big chains, so we can support the community and aid in providing the locals with ample job opportunities.
• Where possible, we choose accommodations that have 20 rooms or less to assist with cutting down on emissions and waste.
• Every accommodation we select has sustainable initiatives such as solar power, rain-water usage, or farm-to-table initiatives where food is grown on-site.
• When booking flights and rental cars, we always do emission offsets to limit our carbon footprint.
• Where possible, we select local public transport such as trains, buses, cable cars, or trams to give our travelers the chance to experience destinations the authentic way while reducing carbon emissions.
• We carefully select and feature five new signature destinations each year that support sustainable travel and actively work to improve their footprint.
• We ensure that the brands we partner with are as eco-conscious as they claim to be. All the local businesses we support are carefully selected after passing through our rigorous checklist. This not only ensures they are going to be the best option for our travelers, but also ensures they are not greenwashing*. We meet with these suppliers to test them for ourselves before choosing them for our travelers.

When you book a trip with us, you will receive a signature Authenteco Gift Box that is full of artisan gifts from local businesses in your destination as well as your packing list and custom day-by-day itinerary. ✓ We use 100% recycled shipping boxes, mailing tape, and shreds from EcoEnclose, a local Denver business. These can be composted when our travelers discard them.
✓ All stickers are made of recycled material with eco-friendly ink from the sustainable business StickerGiant.
✓ We support small businesses that are local to the areas you are visiting.
✓We only order products we need to avoid wasted inventory. All orders are on a per-traveler basis.
✓ Depending on where our traveler lives, we’ll ship items to a local team member to fulfill the order and avoid unnecessary emissions. ).
✓ We prioritize reusable items such as custom reusable coffee mugs or a tote bag for your shopping.
✓ We use recycled paper in our magazines when available and are currently searching for a plant-based ink provider local to Colorado.
✓ We reuse packaging received by items shipped to us from small businesses such as wrapping paper, shipping boxes, envelopes, or packaging peanuts/shreds.
